Working to make a difference in the lives of child mothers

I wish I could adequately describe how much your love, prayers, and generosity are at work. Because of your compassion, the lives of the unborn are being saved, and mothers’ lives are being restored as we make education, trade school, and discipleship available to them.

I was so encouraged to see how excited a child mother from East Africa was when she returned to school earlier this year. You not only are helping provide her a brighter future through education, but you gave this 13-year-old back her childhood.

Victims of abuse

Sadly, almost every child mother we meet – especially ages 12, 13, and 14 – has been sexually abused by a family member. One of these precious girls was 13 and persistently told her mother what was happening, but to no avail. Her mother refused to believe her. Unfortunately, we find this is often the case.

Your donations to our Youth at Risk initiative make it possible for us to remove these children from abusive situations and place them with safe, loving families or in our Youth at Risk Home.

In many cases, these young girls endure continuous verbal abuse at home; family members often threaten their lives. In most African cultures, when an unmarried daughter becomes pregnant, regardless of the circumstances, it brings shame to her parents. The family is given a bad name for not properly raising their children.

We learned of a Nigerian teenager who committed suicide after her grandmother – with whom she had been living since she was a toddler – chased the girl away after learning she was pregnant. It is gut-wrenching to accept that this grandmother was more concerned with the stigma surrounding her granddaughter than her welfare.

It is challenging to navigate these realities. That is why I do not take your prayers for granted.

Expanding our ministry

We have only scratched the surface of these sexually abused children. We plan to strategically expand this part of our ministry by building a safe house where we can serve many more abused child mothers. We hope to accomplish this in 2025-2026.

Even though these stories are painful to hear, as they should be, I am thankful your financial gifts have enabled us to respond compassionately to these situations that seem hopeless. It is not uncommon for these child mothers to be abandoned by their families.

And while family members may neglect and discard these vulnerable girls, our doors are always open to them. I would rather they walk through our doors than abortion clinic doors – which are open to them as well.

You are making a difference! Learn more about our Youth at Risk program and make a donation today!

Thank you!
