Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, and that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Multi-Purpose Building Underway!

Because of our donors’ faithful giving, Julie’s Heart Cry has funded the construction of this multi-purpose building in Adjumani, Uganda. This facility, which can accommodate 1,000 people, will be used as a training center for church planters and church leaders, as well as host events for youth in the region. It can also be rented out to government officials for seminars and workshops. COVID and fuel prices have slowed construction, so a firm completion date has not been set.

Self-sustainability initiative funds graduates

Thanks to the Aspiring Entrepreneurs & Needy College Students Initiative (ANECOSI), a college/vocational training program in Uganda, these young people are all 2022 graduates. The program was established by our partner, Alex Mitala, to help disadvantaged students further their education after high school. The average cost for one year of college is $2,800; all of these students were funded by Julie’s Heart Cry self-sustainability initiative. Many of these students come from ultra-poor families and refugee camps; many are the first in their families to complete high school. JHC recognizes that this age group is most vulnerable in making life-altering decisions and supports Mitala’s ministry as he disciples these young people.

Also pictured are some of the graduates with their new sewing machines, which they will use to start their own business.

COVID Response

Reopening during the coronavirus pandemic has been costly and challenging for schools throughout Uganda. Julie’s Heart Cry supporters provided resources for the Good Samaritan Children’s Center in Kampala to be compliant with COVID-19 health guidelines. The ministry’s donation to the school, which ministers to 2,500 ultra poor or orphaned children, paid for hiring people to sew 2,500 masks, several infrared thermometers, gallons of liquid soap, multiple handwashing stations, hand sanitizer and more.

Transitional Homes

The effects of the ongoing war in Central African Republic have destroyed many lives, homes, churches, crops and livestock. The devastation is hard to understand, but God’s love is being felt by displaced families who have been resettled in their own homes. Julie’s Heart Cry donors made it possible to purchase land to build transitional homes where families will be able to stay up to five years and farm one-acre plots to support themselves. Several houses have been built with more on the way!

12 Acres of Land

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Julie’s Heart Cry was able to purchase 12 acres of land. It is currently being farmed to provide food for the displaced families as well as for people living at Irene’s Home of Hope, until the Lord leads otherwise. Food security continues to be a struggle across the country, and we are thankful the farm will supply enough Gozo (a food staple of Central African Republic) for hurting families, as well as the orphanage.

Maternity Hospital

This maternity hospital in Uganda was forced to place several babies in a single crib and sometimes on plastic chairs due to a lack of resources. Julie’s Heart Cry ministry donors came to the rescue by helping quickly deliver 20 stainless-steel cribs in a matter of weeks to not only meet a practical need but to also offer the hope of Jesus Christ.

Food Assistance & Bibles

The global pandemic only worsened the food situation in many countries that were already struggling. But thanks to generous donors, we provided food assistance in places like Central Asia, Uganda and Central African Republic. Julie’s Heart Cry partnered with local churches and others to help widows, shut-ins and single mothers who were in desperate need of food. And, along with physical nourishment, we also fed them spiritually with copies of God’s Word.

Vehicles

Pastor Frank Michael Tweheyo is senior pastor at Christian Fellowship Church in the southwestern part of Uganda. He and his wife, Phobice, are parents of twins, Samalie and Samuel, who are miracles from the Lord. The couple prayed and waited for 23 years before they finally got pregnant.

The gift of this four-wheel drive vehicle will help Pastor Frank and his evangelistic team take the Gospel deep into the mountains and bush areas of Uganda.

School Benches

Ministry donors helped provide 60 additional school benches for 300 preschoolers at Ecole Primaire de Bimon, a primary school located in a small community of 3,000 people in the village of Bimon, southwest of Bangui, Central African Republic. The children previously had to sit on the floor or not attend classes at all because they didn't have enough seating.

200 Acres of Farmland

Because of the generosity of so many, Good Samaritan School in Kampala, Uganda, was able to purchase 200 acres of farmland to expand their food source, care for the children at the school and cover operational expenses for the campus.

Small Business Support

Five young adults received business start-up equipment in 2020 after they graduated from cosmetology, culinary and seamstress school. Any student who graduates from Good Samaritan High School is offered an opportunity to attend a trade school and receives one of these business kits.

Women of Bweyeye

In Bweyeye, Rwanda, 750 ladies packed into a small church to share their hearts about the need for a birthing center in their community. They told of walking five to six hours through a dense forest just to get to the main road — where they would try to catch a ride for the remainder of the hour-long car trip to the closest maternity clinic ... or have to keep walking. The saddest part was the stories they told about the lives lost because of the distance to the clinic. This is one of four villages for which Julie’s Heart Cry has promised to provide a birthing center.

Emergency Kits for Displaced People

War in central and eastern African countries has made many defenseless families run for their lives, taking nothing but the clothes on their backs. When they finally reach a refugee camp, they are traumatized, hungry, sick and hopeless. Julie’s Heart Cry donors are helping provide these people with critical supplies through emergency kits, helping them put their homes back together in the most basic way.

Each kit contains crucial items such as sugar, plates, utensils, cooking pots, a Jerry can, linens and more.

Julie Speaks on the Sanctity of Life

Julie was invited to speak to these 2,000 high school students in Kenya about purity and the sanctity of life. Teen pregnancy and motherhood rates in Kenya stand at 18 percent. About one in every five adolescent girls has either had a live birth or is pregnant with her first child.

Chapel Service in Kenya

While in Kenya, Julie was also invited to address this body of 4,000 university students during a chapel service about purity and the sanctity of life.

Women’s Conference in Uganda

Julie’s Heart Cry hosted a women’s conference at a church in Uganda after Julie spoke to a local pastor’s wife and asked her what she thought the abortion rate was in her community. Without hesitation, she said, “80 percent!” She went on to explain that the subject is not talked about – especially in a church setting. About 2,000 people attended the one-day event. God broke hearts and restored relationships that day as we shared about the sanctity of life, purity and holy matrimony.

College Student Ministry

In 2020, the ministry provided full tuition for 60 college students who had aged out of conventional sponsorships. Some of the happy recipients are pictured here.
