Together, we can offer these kids hope

In a previous blog, we shared about a 5-year-old girl who had aged out of an orphanage in the city where Julie’s Heart Cry serves. We would like to tell you a little more of Monica’s story—not only to provide context, but also to invite you to pray for her and, if the Lord leads, consider partnering with us financially.

Until recently, we had never heard of a child being required to leave an orphanage at just 5 years old! This reality is both shocking and heartbreaking.

We understand this particular orphanage is considered one of the best in the area. Yet, because so many abandoned and orphaned infants are waiting for a place to go, children must leave when they turn 5 so younger ones can be admitted.

Monica’s uncle, who was both unwilling and unable to care for her, contacted us after being given only a short time to take her from the orphanage. During our conversation, he expressed deep concern for the children left behind. In his own words, he believed some children were being “sold” to foreigners who could afford the required fees.

As we have shared before, God has faithfully opened our eyes to those who are the most vulnerable—children with no voice to speak for themselves. He has entrusted Julie’s Heart Cry with the privilege of protecting them while sharing the hope of the gospel.

When our JHC team visited the uncle’s home, they found two older sisters—ages 8 and 10—who were being used solely for labor by their uncle and his wife. We knew we could not separate these siblings. By God’s grace, Julie’s Heart Cry welcomed all three girls into our program, where they are now receiving love, nutritious meals, medical care, counseling, and an education.

Should the Holy Spirit lead you to partner with us, your gifts will help provide food, medical care, education, and the daily needs of these three sisters and many other vulnerable children like them. While we cannot rescue every child, together we can change the lives of the ones God places in our path.
