Give today, transform tomorrow

Imagine a world where dreams are nurtured, potential is realized, and every child has the opportunity to thrive. Unfortunately, for thousands of children in the Central African Republic, that world remains out of reach.

At Julie’s Heart Cry, we believe every child deserves a promising future. Our team is working tirelessly to provide support for young people experiencing hunger, poverty, and lack of access to an education – which we believe is the key to overcoming impoverishment.

Your support is crucial in helping us address these challenges and create positive change in their lives.

WE ARE TURNING CHILDREN AWAY!

We desperately need to expand our Youth at Risk Home in Bangui to include another facility. Our staff has been approached numerous times to take in orphans and vulnerable children who are struggling. Relatives cannot care for these little ones for various reasons.

We also are seeing an influx of children who are the product of incest or rape. Families are ashamed of these children and the stigma they bring. In most cases, these precious babies are abandoned.

Chronic hunger is threatening the lives of CAR’s disadvantaged children, not to mention the lack of quality health care. The result is often avoidable deaths. Unfortunately, we have had to turn away children due to lack of space!

Recently, a young girl named Milka dropped out of school to support her family. To earn money, Milka collected sand from a nearby riverbank and then knocked on doors in town trying to sell the sand. Her mother is sick and unable to work, and her father goes fishing for weeks at a time trying to catch food for the family.

Milka and other susceptible children like her need to be in school; to achieve this, they need your financial gifts and your prayers.

JHC already owns land where we can build another facility; the cost would be around $400,000 (the hefty price tag is due to the exchange rate).  This property is strategically located in the center of the city with access to basic services.

With this expansion, we would not only be able to care for more children in need, but also accept little boys into our program – whom we are currently turning away.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP

In addition to Milka, here are a few other examples of people we’re trying to serve:

  • A 5-year-old orphaned girl who lives with her aunt; sadly, her aunt is working the child like a mule.

  • A 3-year-old boy who is severely malnourished and his 9-year-old sister who is being sexually abused by neighborhood boys.

  • Parents who are leaving young children at home while they work, which results in these youngsters being vulnerable to predators. We would like to teach these mothers how to sew so they can stay at home and still earn an income.

But there’s an obstacle.

Our Resource Center is currently closed due to extreme termite damage. This means no sewing classes are being taught. The building was constructed on a termite hill, unbeknownst to us. The cost to repair the structure is around $15,000.

As mentioned in an earlier newsletter, we are still trying to purchase a vehicle to use for ministry in the CAR. We are short $28,000, which covers the taxes, tariffs, and customs. The old truck we currently rent must be taken to the garage for repairs before it can even be used. Last month, we also had to purchase tires for the truck before we could drive it.

Your donation, regardless of size, helps us continue our vital mission of meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of ultra-poor women and children. With your financial gift, you become part of the solution, giving children hope for a brighter future and ensuring we can continue to provide critical resources.

Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus.
